Louis Dreyfus Company Inaugurates New Glycerin Refinery and Edible Oil Packaging Line in Lampung

Lampung, Indonesia, May 27, 2025 – Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) today announced the inauguration of its new glycerin refinery and edible oil packaging line in Lampung, Indonesia. This marks a significant step in LDC’s strategic expansion in the country and underscores its long-term commitment to Indonesia’s agribusiness development.

The newly inaugurated glycerin refinery has an annual production capacity of 55,000 metric tons. It is designed to meet growing global demand for high-quality refined glycerin that complies with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards. Glycerin is a key ingredient for the pharmaceutical, personal care, and cosmetics industries — markets expected to grow at an average rate of 2.5% CAGR between 2023 and 2040.

“This refinery is a milestone for our Food & Feed Solutions business,” said James Zhou, Global Head of Food & Feed Solutions and Chief Commercial Officer of LDC Group. “It strengthens our existing operations in Lampung and complements our global footprint in the Americas and Europe, enabling us to better serve rising demand for high-purity glycerin.”

In parallel, the new edible oil packaging line has a projected annual capacity of 64,800 metric tons. The facility enhances LDC’s ability to capture opportunities in both the export and domestic markets, aligning with Indonesia’s national agenda to advance downstream palm oil industries. With its strategic location near major export ports, the facilities bolster LDC’s regional and global supply chain capabilities.
